Actor Leonardo DiCaprio has listed his oceanfront mansion in Malibu for sale just four years after he first bought it.

The A-lister snapped up the house in 2021 for $US13.75 million ($21 million).

Now he wants to sell it for $US23 million ($35 million), according to Realtor.com, who first reported the news.

If the sale is successful, DiCaprio will make $14 million.

Meanwhile, buyers who are wary of commitment have the opportunity to try the house out first.

The Malibu beach pad is also up for rent, at the eye-watering cost of $US65,000 per month ($99,400).

The property – named the Encinal Beach House – is set at the end of a private gated street.

It is one of just a handful of properties in the exclusive Malibu enclave built directly on the sand.

According to the listing, houses on this stretch of coastline are rarely offered for sale.

In fact, the house is so close to the sea it’s possible to see dolphins playing in the ocean.

Inside, the home is clean and modern with white walls and floor-to-ceiling windows.

And it might be by the beach, but blond hardwood floors and roaring fireplaces lend the house a sense of warmth.

The primary bedroom suite is home to a lavish bathroom which includes a deep soaking tub and steam shower.

Those who prefer to bathe outdoors have no shortage of options, from a timber hot tub to a private sauna.

“The perfectly landscaped grounds make the perfect setting for relaxing and watching the surf during the day or the sunset,” the listing says.

It states the house has “direct access to one of the most private and coveted beaches in Malibu”.

Tara Switzer from Coldwell Banker Realty is the listing agent.
