A centuries-old manor house with links to the Spice Girls and British royalty is for sale in England.

Singer and TV personality Melanie Brown – known affectionately as Mel B from her ‘Scary Spice’ days with the British pop group – lived in the manor during the 1990s.

Brown, who wed hairstylist Rory McPhee last week, isn’t the only high profile name to frequent the grand estate.

The late Queen Elizabeth II is said to have visited the manor during World War II, 50 years before Brown moved in.

At the time, the property was used as headquarters for the 5th Battalion of the Black Watch, according to luxury lifestyle publication, the Robb Report

General Dwight Eisenhower met at the house to hold crucial meetings with General Montgomery and Air Chief Marshal Tedder ahead of D-Day.

The manor is located in Little Marlow, a small country town in south-east England.

The first recorded mention of the manor was in the Doomsday Book of 1086, suggesting the house is nearly 1000 years old.

Each generation of occupants made alterations and additions to the house, resulting in a rich tapestry of historic architectural influences.

There is Elizabethan oak panelling that dates back to the time of Shakespeare, and Georgian sash windows from Marie Antoinette’s day.

A spa room, video security system and home are among the latest twenty-first century additions.

The house is on the market with Savills with an asking price of £11 million ($22.6 million).

“This is one of the most spectacular country houses I have been fortunate enough to see,” Savills agent Victoria Knight said.

“It’s incredibly rare in this area to have a Manor House set so centrally within a village and still offer privacy.”

The house is a short drive north of London and just 30 kilometres away from Heathrow Airport, making it ideal for jet-setters.

It is set on nearly nine acres of parkland, orchards and gardens and includes parking for seven cars.

The property is within easy reach of several private schools, while adults can enjoy golfing and rowing at prestigious clubs in the area.
