WHY I BOUGHT IN …
MONCRIEFF
Car lover Ben Mejlak has just bought a three-bedroom home at The Reserve with his girlfriend Georgia.
The home will play host to Ben, Georgia and their new baby, Luka, born just under a week ago.
Mejlak, who owns a mechanic shop in Mitchell, chose to buy at The Reserve after just a few months of house hunting.
The price point of Moncrieff was unbeatable for him. He says that it was “worth buying there because I could afford there”.
While Mejlak says that “Canberra’s really expensive”, choosing a suburb a bit further out means he has been able to afford a spacious family home.
Moncrieff sets a good balance for Ben in terms of affordability and amenity, being just a 10-minute drive from work in Mitchell.
He’s glad to have snagged a property there. “I wouldn’t go south-side,” he says.
The Mejlaks’ three-bedroom, two-bathroom, double-garage property is primarily an investment.
He plans to move on shortly, saying they’ll “live in it for a couple of years then rent it out”.
The buying process was “really easy,” he says. Pretty much everything “except the curtains” was included in the purchase, which means the couple won’t have to worry about details.
They are currently renting a three-bedroom home in Kaleen. They are looking forward to moving into their Moncrieff home at the end of 2017.
Mejlak says he’s happy to have bought, as it gives him the chance to “pay my loan off rather than someone else’s”.
