New homes case study: Why Googong has a lot to offer first home buyers

For many first home buyers, that first purchase is often a stepping stone on the way to something bigger and more permanent.

However, Luke Madden says Googong offers a wider range of affordable products for first home buyers.

Luke and his partner Jane Carr moved into their first home this week. It’s a three-bedroom terrace with plenty of outdoor space.

“It was a good entrance for my partner and I,” Luke says. “It’s not an intermediate house, it’s somewhere with a yard and plenty of other things we’ll make use of, rather than a tiny apartment. It’s a long time since I’ve had a backyard.”

In addition to a yard at the front and the back of the home, the terrace also includes two living areas. Jane and Luke are both studying and the floor plan gives them the space they need.

The couple have moved from Phillip and have found the commute to work comparable. They are both public servants, Luke works in Fyshwick and Jane in Tuggeranong.

“It’s a different vibe,” Luke says. “It’s much nicer to drive home at the end of the day.”
