New homes: Jamison Plaza's appeal spurs developments

Macquarie and the surrounding Belconnen suburbs of Aranda and Cook have hit a stage of renewal. Many empty nesters and those leaving the nest are flocking to a series of new developments around Jamison Plaza.

It’s no wonder that units and townhouses within footsteps of the centre have been so popular – the plaza has long been a one-stop shop for Belconnen residents. It’s home to two supermarkets and a range of specialty stores and eateries. The popular Ricardo’s has tempted customers from across Canberra with its pastry creations and lavish desserts.

Parc is the second stage of the Macquarie Park development. The 74-unit complex will join Bowman Villas on the 1.6-hectare site.

Parc will comprise three distinct buildings, each containing between 20 and 30 units.

Morris Property Group director Barry Morris said client feedback from the first stage of development guided the creation of the apartment complex.

As a result, most of the building’s homes will be two or three-bedroom apartments.

“The feedback that we got from local residents when marketing the villas was that there were a lot of downsizers looking for single-level, but larger-style developments,” Mr Morris said.

All homes have been planned to maximise storage and provide light, spacious living areas.

Full height glass doors expand open-plan living areas onto large balconies, which offer enough space for al fresco dining.

Integrated appliances also add to the streamlined design. The kitchens are fitted with high-quality AEG or Westinghouse appliances including a built-in microwave and the European-style laundries are complete with front-loader washing machines and dryers.

European fixtures and designer tapware from Paco Jaanson grace the luxurious bathrooms.

Each apartment includes basement parking, with two spaces allocated to each two or three-bedroom apartment. However, residents may find they become less reliant on the car.

The complex will include 1100 square metres of retail and restaurant space on the ground floor.

Mexican, Turkish, Vietnamese and Italian restaurants are all just moments from the front door and the Southern Cross Club is just down the road.

Belconnen Town Centre, Belconnen Fresh Food Markets, CISAC, schools and the UC are all within a five-minute drive and Civic is just 10 minutes away.
