A new price benchmark has been set in Strathnairn by a six-bedroom designer house that sold for a record-breaking $1.765 million.
The sale of the property at 34 Asimus Avenue surpassed the previous suburb high of $1.65 million, which was set in 2022 by the four-bedroom house at 4 Fairbrother Street.
Domain data shows Canberra’s median house price edged up 1.1 per cent in the June quarter to $1.07 million.
Lauryn Rettie of Marq Property, who managed the Asimus Avenue sale, said the result highlighted the current high level of buyer interest and strong demand for high-quality family homes in the Ginninderry region.
“We had a total of 93 groups view the property, so buyer interest was strong throughout the campaign,” she said.
Rettie noted buyers were drawn to the home’s quality, family-friendly design, and its prime position on the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor, reflecting the exceptional opportunities for families in the thriving community.
The residence by Canberra-based Studio56 Building Design is a rare example of scale and sophistication, with 444 square metres of living space on a 761-square-metre block.
Its architectural credentials are on full display through a striking monochromatic palette, soaring ceilings, polished terrazzo concrete floors, premium stonework and bespoke joinery.
Built in 2024, the home sits on a tightly held street. This sale marked its first-ever transaction.
The record stands as a significant achievement in the suburb, where the median house price has remained stable at $925,000 over the past 12 months, according to the latest Domain House Price Report.
