More than 100 people gathered for the auction of this home on a corner block, owned by the same family since it was built in the 1920s. Once bidding on the 656-square-metre block opened at $1.25 million, it went up in $50,000 increments as five bidders tried to nab the home. After passing the $1.35 million mark, it went up in mostly $10,000 increments until the home sold for $82,000 above the $1.5 million reserve. It was snapped up by owner occupiers who plan to renovate and extend the existing cottage. It sold through George Bachtis of McGrath Collaroy.
