Andrew Mills, of Bellevue Building, has a long list of awards the company has won. Most recently it won the National Master Builders Award in the best medium density development category for Elevate in Aranda.

Mills says Bellevue’s success comes from sticking to their tried and tested technique, which he says is “high quality townhouses rather than units”.

Oakland features just 16 townhouses, split into two rectangular blocks of eight, which Mills believes “really sets it apart”.

Eight units face the leafy Wandoo Street, with eight looking out to Black Mountain.

Architect Ross Norwood, of DNA Architects, describes them as “really unique townhouses”. He believes the design of the homes stands out, saying “we’ve created a pretty funky style”.

Norwood says the mix of layouts and floor plans means that homes are unique, saying “each unit has its own character”.

Each home boasts individual frontage and basement garaging, with private entrances. Norwood, however, is most proud of the small touches, such as the internal light wells in the staircases that give the buildings cross-ventilation and light.

Mills believes the space afforded by the townhouse design of Oakland is unique in O’Connor, saying it “gives you a more open lifestyle close to the city”.

Mills says Oakland accommodates a clientele that wants to stay close to the city, but are looking for “the space and privacy of their own townhouse” rather than a unit.

Buyers can choose from three colour schemes and unique floor plans, with up to three bathrooms. Inclusions are of a high standard with Bosch appliances, Caesarstone benchtops, Italian tiles, custom joinery, double glazing throughout and generous courtyards.

The third floor included in some homes gives residents the choice to retreat upstairs to a multi-purpose room with stunning views. The townhouses are currently on the market, with 12 still available. Construction is due to begin in January.
