Retailers offering products with a twist or free-wheeling creatives may find themselves right at home in a quirky but cool space in the iconic Nishi Building.
Nearly 100 square metres will be available for lease from next month and new tenants may well become the beneficiaries of aspects of a highly original fitout.
The corner location has been the home of cultural advisory, Dionysus, that has organised many of Canberra’s high-profile events and festivals.
Chris Antos of Laing+Simmons Commercial says the owners are keen to hear from retailers or creatives who can bring something unique to the precinct.
“It’s a really eclectic space with beams and metalwork and other media – it’s going to appeal to someone who understands the value in differentiating their product or business,” he says.
“We’re open to all proposals – maybe a vinyl record business, co-existing with fashion or, maybe, comics or graphic novels … the area is just right for something different.”
Antos says while the owners would be looking for a standard, long-term lease they were also willing to entertain initially shorter options to help a new business find its feet.
“It’s really about finding the right tenant or tenants for the space,” he says.
“We’re also willing to discuss the potential of two complementary businesses who might want to share the location.”
