Island resort meets sophisticated urban abode in this three-bedroom Dickson home where looking in is as rewarding as looking out.
But it wasn’t always so light and inviting.
Owner Grant Evermy bought the home four years ago and the decorating journey began.
“The house had been owned by an elderly couple for many years. It had been extended and updated but was in need of a big revamp,” Grant says.
Back then the house lacked flow. Walls sliced up the living space and there was scope to bring the outside in with better use of the entertaining areas.
Grant remodelled the interior and added a heated pool with underwater lighting, outdoor deck areas and landscaped gardens.
“You now have a spacious pool area and courtyard as you walk into the home with fairy lights all around and it has the feeling of a Balinese villa,” Grant says.
“I took an artistic approach and added a mural around the pool, and while I absolutely love the result, a new buyer may want to paint over it or create their own mural.”
Grant wanted the home to have a modern vintage interior and set about creating an elegant space with contemporary palettes and quality fittings.
“It’s now the type of home that can be enjoyed in all seasons. In winter you can sit around the open fireplace in the sunken lounge and in summer there is your own slice of paradise by the pool.”
The house has a chef-inspired kitchen with Miele appliances. The property also features a double garage with remote control and is close to the CBD and Dickson’s restaurant precinct.
No.1 Bates St, Dickson will be auctioned on Saturday, July 2, through LJ Hooker Dickson agents Andrew Browne and Donna Pinkerton. Price guide: $900,000+. Inspect: By appointment. EER: 3.
If you are looking for the perfect man cave or she shed, it’s inside this house.
With four undercover car spaces at their Evatt home, Joel and Michelle Mant decided to convert some of the unused garage area into a cosy family den, complete with arcade games and a bar with beer on tap.
“It’s a wonderful gathering spot for our family and friends and children to enjoy,” Joel says.
“A new owner could keep it as a den or use it for storage or an office.”
The house, which was built in the 1970s and has been renovated, is on an 816-square-metre block in a quiet street.
It has three spacious bedrooms with built-ins, airconditioning, landscaped gardens, deck, chicken coop, a drip-irrigated vegetable plot and a garden shed.
“What appealed to us is that the house has been really well built and a lot of quality workmanship has been put into it,” Joel says.
“We also love the location. The deck offers views across Mount Ainslie and you can see the lights from Bruce stadium and the fireworks from Skyfire.”
The property is within walking distance of Evatt, Spence and Melba shops.
No. 4 Fuhrman St, Evatt is for sale through LJ Hooker Belconnen agent Ajay Mehta. Price guide: $505,000+. Inspect: By appointment. EER: 0.
