Sydney FC chairman Scott Barlow has sold his luxury waterfront apartment for more than $8.2 million in just one day.

The whole-floor spread of Barlow and his wife Alina in Darling Point exchanged on Friday, the day before its first open inspection.

The apartment was set to be marketed with a guide of $8.2 million to $8.5 million, and sold in that price range, according to LJ Hooker Double Bay’s Bill Malouf, who listed the apartment with Julian Hasemer, of 1st City Hasemer+Caldwell.Eyles.

“It shows that the market is holding strong, but also that there’s a real shortage of waterfront apartments of that calibre in the east,” Mr Malouf said.

The highest result in the harbourside block of six was set in the softer market of 2011 at $8.5 million for the penthouse, which was bought by developer and yacht-racing identity George Snow and his wife Sabrina.

The Barlows’ apartment last traded in 2003 for $6.2 million. Alina’s billionaire Russian father David Traktovenko owns Sydney FC.

The most recent sale in the Keltie Bay complex was in February at $5.3 million when wealthy commercial property owner Anne Melkman sold her slightly smaller apartment to property developer Robert Renshall and his wife Kathryn.

In August last year, London-based Anne-Louise Reilly-Akers sold her three-bedroom spread in the same building for $6.85 million to Melanie and David Schwartz, chairman of ADG Global.
