Good news for fans of windows, a Spanish designer has created a portable home made entirely of the things.

Also known as a “Cristal Box”, the design by Jose A. Gandía-Blasco allows people to enjoy nature from the comfort of their living room.

The large glass room with aluminium casing is reportedly inspired by European “Winter Gardens”, created for wealthy families in the 17th century to keep their plants alive during winter.

The boxes have flooring made from vegetable fibre and plastic, with the roof made from galvanised sheeting and retail at around $45,000 at Switch Modern.

Though the glass is quite strong, the old adage of not throwing stones in glass houses still applies.

Gandia Blasco have created a range of luxury outdoor furniture including “Wigwams” and swinging loveseats.

The cube can function as a greenhouse, or just a glass case of emotion.
