Ibiza may be world-famous for its nightlife, but the Spanish island is also a sanctuary of stunning beaches, whitewashed villages, cultural heritage, and some truly impressive homes.

Perched on a sun-drenched hillside, Monte del Sol is a five-bedroom, five-bathroom retreat on the market for €5.9 million ($8.75 million) that perfectly captures the island’s refined rhythm. With sea views, a rooftop pool, and interiors that blend soulful texture with high-end tech, the home is designed for those who want to feel Ibiza, not just visit it. But Monte del Sol is not a slick new build – it’s a reinvention of something with soul.

“When a young Belgian guy got married in Ibiza and found the original Monte Del Sol, he immediately saw the high potential of the house with stunning seaviews, in the exclusive area of Es Cubells and the ever-positive possibilities of Ibiza itself,” says listing agent Jason Ham from Fantastic Frank Ibiza.

What followed was a complete transformation, finished in 2020, retaining the home’s Ibizan essence while embracing a warm, contemporary luxury.

Natural chalk-plastered walls were hand-applied by Belgian artist Christoph Dahlman, who stayed in the home for four months while completing the work, giving the interiors a soft, living texture. Throughout the kitchen and common areas, 200-year-old barnwood grounds the space in heritage, while home automation, integrated air-conditioning and six separate Sonos zones bring seamless modernity.

The home’s lower ground floor combines four bedrooms, three bathrooms, laundry, and a large storage room.

Head upstairs to find the cosy living area with an open fireplace, plus the huge open-plan kitchen and dining area. Hidden down one end is the main bedroom with an en suite and private terrace. All the spaces on this level flow seamlessly to the outdoor terrace, boasting jaw-dropping sea views.

Ascend once more and discover the home’s true wow factor: the rooftop terrace. And come sunset, this is where you’d want to be.

A true showpiece, the elevated terrace is fitted with a heated pool – a rarity in Ibiza – a full Ibiza-style chiringuito bar, multiple chill-out zones, and a gym/yoga deck area.

“[It’s] where you want to be all day, but especially during the sunset golden hour,” says Ham.

And no matter which level you find yourself on, the views are exceptional.

“The views from the villa stretch out all the way over the countryside down to the pretty little village of Es Cubells and its church, and then straight out to the sparkling Mediterranean. The sun rises over one side of the villa, and sets behind the hills on the other side, lighting up the whole countryside in front with myriad different colours, changing all year round as the seasons change,” says Ham.

Speaking of seasons, Monte del Sol isn’t just built for summer – it’s one of the rare homes in Ibiza designed for true year-round living.

“The house is designed for all year-round living, with its very cosy feeling, open fireplace and snug living room. But for the summer, the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors from the kitchen to the outdoor dining area open totally to give you that perfect indoor-outdoor feeling, and to allow you to feel the sea breeze and sun on your face, whilst looking out to sea and cooking at the same time,” says Ham.

“Also, the rooftop chiringuito that sees endless outdoor entertaining by the pool, and is probably the main focus of the villa during the summer months.”

And as for lifestyle, this stretch of the island is known for its laid-back luxury.

“This is a very exclusive and much sought-after area in the south-west of Ibiza, named as the ‘golden triangle’,” says Ham.

“During the winter, it is very quiet and peaceful, and during the summer it heats up with the world’s movers and shakers, most of whom love the anonymity here where no one bothers them and billionaires rub shoulders with the Ibicenco farmers in the local bars and restaurants.”

While you’re there

Just 20 minutes from Ibiza’s airport, Es Cubells is a tiny, picturesque village with a church, a handful of restaurants, and sweeping sea views — all wrapped in quiet, local charm.

Dine with a view

“Along a winding coastal road, and tucked away in a little corner of the beach is Ses Boques, a small restaurant that produces tasty local cuisine, often based around the catch of the day,” says listing agent, Ham.

“The restaurant also has a lovely little terrace area, which makes it a perfect spot for an afternoon pit stop, whilst watching the waves lapping lazily onto the shore.”

Secret swims

Skip the island’s busy beaches and go searching for hidden ones, like Cala Llentrisca, about a 15-minute drive from town. Just make sure you pack your hiking shoes — the path to find it can be steep at times.
