Emma and Ben have allocated a hefty $120,000 towards Backyard Week on The Block, but it’s about to get a whole lot worse.
As Foreman Dan stopped by House 1 on Wednesday, he discovered a compliance issue and concrete disaster that would set the team back a whopping $20,000.
Ben called it his “worst day ever”.
Foreman Dan discovered that Emma and Ben’s concrete paving slab was way too steep to pass code.
This means they may have to “rip up” two days worth of work.
“This is going to cause a lot of headaches for these guys right now,” said Foreman Dan.
“This slab cost me 20 grand,” a frustrated Ben reacted.
News of the setback breaks one half of The Block’s happiest couple as Ben retreated to the garage “not talking to anyone”.
Emma was just peeved off.
Back on site Emma did everything she could to cheer up Ben and come up with both a cost-effective and timely solution.
“It was tense,” said Emma.
After five to six hours, they did come up with an idea. Although compared to the original plans, Ben said it was “devastating”.
“We’ve lost two days,” Emma reflected.
This isn’t the only major blunder they’ve faced during Backyard Week. Yesterday their styling consultation was brought to a sudden stop.
“It’s killing me,” said Emma.
