Xiao Bei Shi, the wife of wealthy property developer Phillip Dong Fang Lee, has had a rethink on the Bellevue Hill mansion she bought three years ago for $8.15 million.
The five-bedroom house with tennis court and pool on a double block of 1900 square metres was set to be a knockdown rebuild at the time it was purchased by the Point Piper trophy-home owner.
And Woollahra Council records show the O’Sullivan Road property has scored DA approval for a new residence designed by architect Stephen Gergely, at an estimated cost of $15 million.
Just don’t expect Shi to undertake the job.
Gergely & Pinter are the architects who redesigned the Point Piper mansion on the site where Craig-y-Mor once stood, before it was bought by Zeng Wei, the son of former Chinese vice-president Zeng Qinghong, and his wife Jiang Mei for $32.4 million in 2008.
The architect firm’s design for Shi’s Bellevue Hill residence is no less impressive. Set above street-level garaging, it is a three-level residence with swimming pool and tennis court, wine cellar, maid’s quarters and five bedrooms, all with en suites, including a parent’s retreat with a private sitting room and his and hers dressing rooms.
Shi, who is best known in property circles for her 2015 purchase of the Point Piper mansion Mandalay for $39.9 million, has listed the Bellevue Hill property with Biller Property’s Sunny Sun with a guide of $12 million to $13 million.
