Just what do Scotts Honda Motors former owner and property investor Paul Scharrer and his wife Pam have in mind for the $30 million boathouse they recently bought on the Point Piper waterfront?

And yes, in answer to the frequently asked question, the Point Piper-based couple are indeed the recent buyers of the O’Neil family’s long-held boating playground, ending almost 60 years of family ownership.

There is still no exact price reveal on the sale through Michael Pallier, of Sotheby’s International, but it was listed for $33 million before it sold.

Talk from the Royal Motor Yacht Club has the Scharrers mulling a glamorous remake of the two-storey boathouse, no doubt with room for his restored float out front.

Meanwhile, Michael Pallier has listed the Scharrers’ garden apartment up the hill in the Kilmory Estate for $10 million.

The Scharrers owned it for only two years, having settled on the three-bedder in 2016 when it was off-loaded for $6.5 million from Cynthia Cheung, of the Coogee Bay Hotel family.
