As a home, a venue for baptisms and weddings and a final resting place, this Tassie address covers the circle of life.

A Victorian-style home in Tasmania comes with a very unlikely inclusion… a gravesite.

The five-bedroom, one-bathroom property at 6 Amelia Street in Bracknell was formerly Bracknell Uniting Church, with its last burial reportedly having taken place back in 1972.

As a home, a venue for weddings and baptisms and a final resting place, this address covers the circle of life.

Listed by Chelsea Briggs of Harcourts Northern Midlands, the church conversion is now under offer for a disclosed amount. Ms Briggs has listed the address seeking offers over $449,000.

The listing text does not mention the fact there’s a gravesite on the land, so few details can be gleaned at first glance. However, photos reveal tombstones to be just a metre or so from the back fence.

The agent does state that the home is “targeted to a buyer who can think outside the box”, with the property’s “good bits” being the mountain views and lock-up garage.

Built in 1900, the former church with adjoining cemetery once served the regional town for baptisms, weddings and funerals.

The property last sold for $375,000 in August 2019, according to Pricefinder. Prior to that, the home sold for $75,450 in June 2004.

Lucy and Russell Poulton, who sold the home in 2019, lived in the property for 15 years and even got married there in 2010.

Ms Poulton told Domain in 2019 that the owner would have to take on caretaker duties for the cemetery.

Alongside her husband, the pair renovated the “decrepit” former church as they fell in love with the timber interiors.

The property very much takes on a Victorian-style aesthetic with a turret roof and intricately designed woodwork.

Interiors, following the renovation, offer a charming country feel with vaulted ceilings, whitewashed walls, stained glass windows and timber detail throughout.

The latest government census data reveals the population of Bracknell to be 463, with an age demographic of 40 to 59. Bracknell is a 30 minute drive from Launceston CBD.
