Top 4 homes to inspect in Canberra this weekend

July 15, 2022
41 Temple Terrace, Denman Prospect will go to auction on July 23.

Some people dread winter and, to be quite frank, I used to be one of them. I’m happy to swap frosty mornings for tropical weather in a heartbeat. But these days, I find myself trying to fill my calendar with things to do before the warmer weather kicks in.

Canberra’s been spoilt with a number of events, including the Christmas in July Festival earlier this month and Winter in the City, which is on until Sunday.

And a trip to the slopes is still on my to-do list this month. It’s such a welcome change, considering how the pandemic impacted our lives over the past two years, and adds to the capital’s snowballing appeal as a very liveable and enjoyable city.

In this week’s top picks, we shine a spotlight on some of Canberra’s best properties on the market for those looking to remain or move here.

Wherever you are in your property journey – looking for your next home or just browsing – I hope our featured properties give you some inspiration.

Denman Prospect

With Rosalie Iannelli

At first glance, the home at 41 Temple Terrace is striking in its grandeur, elegance and street appeal, but when you stop and assess it from top to bottom, you realise its brilliance dives down to the finest details.

Sure, the elevated block, panoramic views, central atrium, grand, light-filled living areas and contemporary interior design will capture your immediate attention.

But take a moment to delve further into each space and what you’ll discover are hand-crafted cast-iron designer chandeliers adorned with Swarovski crystals, a solar-powered self-illuminating letterbox, an eco-smart fireplace commanding the living and lounge rooms, and a built-in surround sound system that makes for the most epic of movie nights.

The indoor living area covers 248 square metres across two levels, offering plenty of opportunities for segregation for the whole family. However, to truly escape, simply retreat to the main bedroom upstairs.

A multipurpose room sits beneath the house, ready to be used for storage, as a wine cellar or home gym.

The outdoor heated deck with pergola was made for entertaining. It includes a newly installed impressive spa to wind down the week in, no matter the weather or temperature.

This three-bedroom home on 710 square metres of land has been given a new lease of life under the seller’s ownership.

Each of the rooms has built-in wardrobes and one of the bedrooms has direct access to the backyard.
