If the past week has taught me anything, it’s that winter has well and truly arrived.

I am snuggling in my Oodie dreaming of warmer days as I write this. But in saying that, after a brutal Hiit class this morning — there’s really nothing like walking out of a sweaty gym to the brisk, nippy weather Canberra has to offer.

What would make that better is if I could walk right into any of this week’s top picks, from a spacious home in Garran to an entertainer’s dream in Red Hill or a cosy property in Watson, or even a palatial home in Goulburn.

Wherever you are in your property journey, whether you’re on the hunt or having a peek at what’s available, we hope these next few properties inspire you.

Goulburn

The home at 350 Painters Lane, Goulburn, can only be described as farm-meets-Hamptons. In theory, it sounds contradictory, but the reality is anything but.

The interior design is contemporary and chic, featuring elegant white walls, shutters and joinery, blended with blue-grey tones seen in the timber-look flooring and weatherboards.

With a heavy dousing of natural light, you can’t help but feel relaxed and uplifted in every room of this architect-designed country escape.

A healthy dose of the country comes in the form of a classic wood-fired heater and a cleverly positioned mud room and laundry. It can be directly accessed via the back verandah, should you need to strip off dirty boots after a day out spent out in the paddocks.

The home sits pretty on over 40 hectares of green pastures with multiple dams and trees with their own watering systems. There are also three water tanks, a machinery shed, a workshop, Arrowquip cattle yards and weaning yard and a solar bore, for the whole rural experience.

The best place to soak it all in is from the north-facing verandah, overlooking the land with a hot cuppa in hand.
