No 17 Seekamp Street, Denman Prospect was listed by HIVE Property.

When I started at Allhomes, one thing I was excited about (and still am) was the opportunity to write about the homes of different people.

Every home told a different story, whether it was a property that had been in the same family for generations or a house that has kept remnants of the past.

So, wherever you are this Queen’s Birthday long weekend, whether that’s rewatching the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations or spending the weekend stomping the open-home ground, we’ve gathered some of the best homes with a story of their own in Canberra and the surrounding NSW region ready for your perusal.

Googong

Googong is a town that has intrigued me recently and with 21 Larkin Street now on the market, it’s only fuelled my desire to be a Googonian.

The Tuscan style home not only boasts an impressive raked roof facade but inside is bathed in natural light thanks to the high ceilings and multiple windows.

The kitchen is as stylish as it is functional with a terracotta subway tile splashback. The kitchen also enjoys not just one, but two spacious benchtops for the grazing spread of your dreams.

My favourite room is the main en suite that feels like a vacation villa with a double rainfall shower and arched frames. Its earthly hues are complemented by rough plaster walls.

Denman Prospect

No. 17 Seekamp Street is a real feel-good home. The kind that makes you smile as soon as set foot on the front porch and admire the subtle, but simply adorable, aesthetic details. Eventually, you’ll discover they are found throughout this home.

With the feature brickwork, the blue-grey weatherboards, and the olive tree that takes pride of place behind the letterbox, it’s a modern take on a timeless Hamptons style home and every element has been carefully considered.

Inside, you’ll find feature opportunities on the walls, Mediterranean-style tiling, raw finishes and coastal light features. Check the inspiring interior shots you’ve saved on your Instagram and you are likely to find many similarities.

The northerly aspect and raked ceilings with exposed rafters and skylights add to the home’s feeling of grandeur and grace.

But the real pinnacle is the outdoor deck that overlooks the Molonglo Valley. Downstairs is an al fresco dining area with a built-in kitchenette and barbecue with a fire pit nearby. It’s a place to sit back with family and friends and enjoy life’s best moments.
