Top 5 homes in Canberra to inspect this long weekend

May 27, 2022
17b Rusden Street, Garran will go to auction on June 4.

A new season is just around the corner and as our bodies (and wardrobes) adjust to the cooler mornings, I’ll be adjusting to this new role.

Having been at Allhomes for the past two years, I’ve sat back and admired the many homes that have graced our pages, from properties on the golden mile, to million-dollar apartments on the Kingston Foreshore and to houses spanning hectares of land just outside of our borders. It’s been a wonderful experience to peek inside the homes of many.

So, for the next 12 months, I’ll be trawling through the countless properties on the market every week, bringing you the best the capital and its surrounding NSW regions have to offer.

This long weekend, we bring you our top pick of homes across the capital from Farrer to Taylor.

Wherever you are in your property journey, we hope these top picks spark some inspiration.

Farrer

If entertaining is second nature to you, this home was made for you. Located on the hills of Farrer, this property enjoys 270-degree views of Mount Taylor, Black Mountain and the Brindabella Ranges, which can all be enjoyed by the outdoor barbecue area, or if you’re up for it, by the waterfall edge pool.

Garran

It’s not often that homes like 17b Rusden Street hit the market. In fact, it’s the type of property you look to for inspiration when searching for your dream home.

Perhaps it’s the intriguing floor plan that intelligently balances family functionality with contemporary style. Or the elegant interiors that showcase comforting materials like spotted gum timber flooring, muted tiles and matt black fittings, complemented by tranquil leafy outlooks.

A personal favourite is the kitchen where striking pendant lighting is combined with opulent stone benchtops and custom cabinetry. It sits in front of a well-appointed butler’s pantry on one side and the laundry on the other.

Conveniently, from the kitchen is direct access to the private al fresco entertaining area. A corner sliding door allows the courtyard to feel like an outdoor extension of the living and dining zone.

At a day’s end, escape to the haven that awaits upstairs. The luxe main bedroom en suite and bathroom feel more like a premium day spa – especially with a free-standing bath that calls for evening soaks with both types of bubbles (the bath and champagne kind).
