26 Snapper Crescent, Throsby has a price guide of $1.8 million +.

I come from a big family. I’m one of eight children and my parents are both one of many. And if you’ve ever met a Polynesian, you’d find big numbers in families are common.

So, when my parents and their siblings moved to Australia and built their life in Sydney, my parents’ house became home base for many.

It was known as the “headquarters” among our extended relatives because every lunch, dinner or meeting was held there.

Our home, for the most part, was an entertainer’s place and I think many of this week’s top picks of properties have much of that in mind, including a property in Googong property with space and comfort in mind and a Kambah residence with its own outdoor pizza oven and multiple living spaces.

Kambah

With Rosalie Iannelli

The home at 39 Summerland Circuit is the perfect example of how a renovation can sometimes totally trump a knockdown rebuild.

It’s an advocate for retaining a home’s original character, uplifting the interiors and adding some much-needed space that completes its contemporary living package.

39 Summerland Circuit Kambah

This particular home is set up for large families and entertaining. If you live here, you can expect many a birthday, Christmas, Easter or life gathering to be hosted across its multiple living spaces and backyard.

When the weather is ripe, a congregation on the deck is the way to go. Food can be prepared in the kitchen and passed through the servery, or you can opt for something easy and use the pizza oven.

In winter, choose to gather in the main living area in front of the ambient slow-combustion fireplace. A vintage drop from the home’s wine cellar would cap off an evening here perfectly.

There’s no doubt guests will be equally impressed by the interiors as they are with the celebration itself. Stone grey tones are combined and airy white walls and warm timber floors to create chic and modern, yet completely inviting, spaces.
