Residents of a town in the UK have been left outraged over an expanding teetering pile of mattresses and garbage bags in a neighbour’s driveway.

The unwanted heap has been dumped outside a vacant house on Frampton Road in Gorseinon, near Swansea in Wales, for months, the BBC reported.

Since the start of this year, a mass of black bags, soft furnishings, empty gas canisters, L-plates and clothes has slowly appeared at the property.

There is even a mouldy abandoned caravan parked in the driveway, The Sun reported.

Neighbours are concerned the mess could pose a potential fire hazard and impact nearby property values and are calling on the council to act.

“It is negatively affecting our quality of life and is always on our minds,” one couple, who asked not to be named, told the BBC

“Why is no-one at all accountable for this mess?”

The pair raised the matter with Swansea Council and also contacted the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).

They said they were informed the rubbish would be removed during the summer of 2025 – which in the UK is June, July and August, the BBC reported.

When that deadline was not met, the council allegedly stated the mess would be gone by October. However, the garbage pile is still in place.

“Efforts have been made to engage with the homeowner, and we have previously instructed them to remove the waste,” a council spokesperson told the BBC.

“Enforcement notices have also been issued to the homeowner in relation to the waste.”

The spokesperson said the council now plans to remove the waste themselves and recover the costs from the homeowner.

The BBC reported the house is going through probate, quoting a former resident who spoke with the LDRS.

It last sold for £90,000 ($182,000) in 2013, public price records show.
