It’s not every day you stumble upon a swimming pool in the middle of a national park.

But that is exactly what has happened to US entrepreneur and influencer Cameron Jensen.

Earlier this year, Jensen bought an abandoned retreat in Logan Canyon, Utah.

Pine Glenn Cove – known locally as ‘The Nunnery’ – was once a summer holiday camp for the rich and famous, with Joan Crawford and Marilyn Monroe rumoured to have visited.

Today, the retreat is in a derelict state, but it still has a claim to fame: a disused pool.

“This is the only swimming pool in the entire country that is on national forest land,” Jensen said in a recent TikTok video

As soon as he saw the pool, he knew he wanted to restore it – but he was unsure how local authorities would react to his plans.

“When I had my first meeting with the Forest Service, the district ranger, one of the first questions he asks me is ‘What’s the plan for the pool?’” he recalled.

“This was my first meeting so I didn’t know how lightly I had to tread.”

However, when Jensen told the ranger he hoped to restore the pool, the response was a resounding yes.

With the park’s support, Jensen plans to bring the graffiti-covered concrete pool into the 21st century.

“The complaint of those earlier people, as much fun as they had here, was it was always ice, ice, ice baby cold – so freezing cold here, because it’s fresh mountain water,” he said.

To fix this issue, he plans to turn half of the swimming pool into a hot tub for a luxurious winter experience.

The remaining section of the pool will be a traditional pool for the warm summer months.

There will also be changes to improve safety, including building a tall stone wall around the perimeter of the pool.

Many people chimed in with ideas for the project in the comments.

“You should keep [the] pool open all year! Big market for ‘cold water plunge’,” one user suggested.

“That’s [what] the massive river 50 feet away is for,” Jensen replied.
