WHY I BUILT IN…

O’CONNOR

Andrew Mills of Bellevue Building loves O’Connor, saying “I reckon it’s the perfect spot”. For him, the layout, the amenities and the location all work together to create the ideal spot for a home.

Ross Norwood of DNA Architects agrees, adding that now is the perfect time, because “any of those inner north [suburbs] are prime, and honestly undervalued areas”.

O’Connor offers classic suburban living with large block sizes and tree-lined streets, with the amenities of the city centre just around the corner. Norwood says he has designed Oakland to sit well within the beautiful existing trees.

Mills and Norwood believe their development fills a need in the suburb for a non-unit type living model. Norwood says the townhouses at Oakland are an opportunity not to be missed. In the rapidly developing O’Connor he’s not sure there will be another development like it. “I don’t know how long [small scale builds] will last for affordability.”

O’Connor’s layout also appeals to Mills. He says  it’s the perfect spot for an active lifestyle, with plenty of playing fields, parks and “an abundance of open space”.

Mills says despite its convenient proximity to the city centre, O’Connor is the complete package in itself. He says the shopping is great and buyers will “enjoy the leafy lifestyle and proximity to all the shops… and the cafes”.

What Mills really loves is how easy it is to leave O’Connor: “It’s nice and easy to get out and go to the coast.”
