Woman's annoying neighbour uses her address for deliveries

A woman in the UK has turned to the advice of strangers after being left exacerbated by the antics of a neighbour.

The resident revealed that one of her neighbours uses her address to order take-away deliveries without permission.

The unsolicited deliveries mean her doorbell rings at varying times of the day.

“I live on a new build estate and the road behind me doesn’t seem to have been added to delivery apps. I frequently get a neighbour order to my address and put in the delivery instructions their own address,” she shared in a post on Reddit.

“Naturally, no one looks at this and I end up with my doorbell ringing late at night or morning with food for them.”

If that wasn’t enough, the neighbour allegedly leaves the packages at her door, meaning she ends up taking them over.

“I wouldn’t mind as much if they came to intercept it but they stay home and wait for me to send it round,” she wrote.

“Is there anything I can do? I’ve emailed Just Eat and they asked for the order numbers which clearly I don’t have. Thanks.”

The woman’s plea for advice was soon answered with replies ranging from petty to sound.

“Just eat their food,” one person wrote.

“And don’t forget – deny, deny, deny,” a second person chimed in.

“Put a sign on your door saying don’t ring the doorbell after 8pm. They should have a phone number to contact the person who ordered it,” a third person wrote.

Another person offered more strategic advice, gleaned from personal experience.

“Add the address to Google Maps and Openstreet Map,” they wrote.

“I live in a private row of five houses. When I moved in, getting anything delivered was a pain. They would always go to the next street over.

“The neighbours said it was a problem and there was no way to fix it. I just added my address to the maps. I then showed a couple of neighbours, they did the same.

“It takes a little while for things to update, but now we get proper deliveries.”

The woman offered her thanks to the group and acknowledged that while her issue wasn’t “life altering”, it was a regular annoyance.

She also replied to those asking why she didn’t just confront the neighbour directly.

“I also understand I could speak to the neighbour but I honestly don’t know who from the block behind it is. Thanks for all the suggestions,” she wrote.
