Melburnians love a market. It doesn’t matter what’s for sale, or what the weather’s doing, we’re keen to get out into the community for a day of fun, food, fashion and crafty finds.
Here are a bunch of coming market days that are sure to impress even the pickiest of shoppers.
Recycled, pre-loved, vintage – whatever you want to call it – re-using clothing is in. This market is all about the best in fashion, with stallholders hand-picked to ensure only high-quality, beautiful clothing is on offer. Among the brands that shoppers can expect to find are Gorman, Sass & Bide, Miu Miu and Camilla and Marc.
Local and small business-owners come together three times a year for this fun community market. The winter market will bring new stallholders, along with old favourites, selling everything from crafts and fashion to homewares and art.
Melbourne’s best queer and queer-friendly artisans and creatives bring their stylish swag to this monthly market. Fashion, accessories, plants, homewares, books and art are all there for the buying, along with great tunes and drinks specials at the bar.
This arty market has been held every few months since 2015, and continues to be a platform for independent Australian designers to showcase their wares. Everything from homewares to food is for sale – all from cool and quirky local businesses. The organisers also hold events in Ballarat, Bendigo and on the Bellarine Peninsula.
There are only three weeks left to enjoy the Queen Victoria Market’s winter night market. Each Wednesday night, the market lights up with 30 food traders, 50 design and merchandise traders and a host of local entertainers.
After a record breaking 10th anniversary market in July, Carlton’s Royal Exhibition Building will again be home to the very best and latest independent art and design for three days in October. There will also be plenty of food stalls to keep your energy levels up as you browse the creations.
