A prestigious riverfront home in Bulimba has sold for more than $5 million, after a late-night deal on Thursday night.

The six-bedroom, five-bathroom home at 34 Quay Street, Bulimba sold after hours of negotiation, following the lukewarm auction.

There were four bidders cautiously vying for the waterfront prize, with bidding starting at the $4 million mark.

However, with little movement under the hammer, the auction was paused so negotiations could be taken behind closed doors.

The 872-square-metre property sold at 9.30pm, ending the night with a very happy buyer and a couple of disappointed people, according to selling agent Sarah Hackett.

She said it was another great result showing how strong the market is for riverfront properties, particularly in the Bulimba area.

Hackett said in the last six weeks alone she has sold $30 million worth of riverfront properties in the area.

This three-level waterfront property boasts a 20-metre lap pool, European appliances, a fire pit, climate-controlled wine cellar, and a private jetty.

The four main bedrooms all have en suites, and the main bedroom suite comes with a study, large walk-in-wardrobe and a private balcony.

Outside, the home has a large deck with an outdoor bar and barbecue and phenomenal city views.
