The conception of this house-and-land package on Reginald Road in Googong was somewhat of an epiphany.
“We were doing another development in Googong at the time and we just fell in love,” says manager Kylie Wood of Wood and Co Living.
“There’s no other suburb quite like it – one that is able to truly integrate community, family and amenity in the way Googong has.
“I knew I wanted to eventually create a custom home that shows off how Googong is.”
Call it luck or call it manifestation, it wasn’t long before Wood bought what might just be the best block in the suburb.
Sitting quite literally on the highest peak in Googong, the block looks over the entire township and towards the mountains, and has over 1100 square meters of land to play with.
“It’s a block worthy of a custom home that goes beyond being a dream home,” Wood says. “On this site, I wanted to build the best home in the suburb.”
The result is a collaboration between some of the best in the business: design by Tony Pike Solarcert Building Designs, workmanship by Wood and Co and interior design input by Helen Tadiello of Sugar Designs.
“The home didn’t just have to tick all the boxes – it really had to take things up a notch,” Wood says.
“First and foremost, we wanted to focus on a home that captured how truly amazing the views are up there, from both the inside out the outside. That’s why we went with a cantilevered design.”
“The porch sits on the top level at the front of the home. The views are captured from every angle like nothing else is around you, whether you’re sitting outside or inside in the living room,” she adds.
The next was that the home had to be made for growing families. The functional floor plan sees a gracious living and dining area which opens to a private al fresco area, as well as a second living space with a private balcony that wraps around the house.
The main bedroom flows into an en suite and walk-in wardrobe and downstairs is a separate, fully self-contained guest wing with its own kitchen, bathroom and walk-in robe.
“It’s the perfect space to host a growing teen or elderly grandparent,” Wood says. “Or to simply host guests if you like to have people over.”
The high-end kitchen boasts a walk-in pantry and extra dry storage space.
“I wanted to make sure people could have everything they need at the house and didn’t really need to leave if they didn’t want to,” Wood says.
“It’s an entertainer’s home. The one where your kids are always bringing their friends over. The one that can just as easily host a casual family get-together or a fancy party.”
Finally, Wood says that it was important the home was pristine because such a location deserves nothing less.
“Throughout the home, you’ll find soaring ceilings, a contemporary colour palette and high-end finishes,” she says.
“Being surrounded by natural views, it was important we brought nature inside. The home has a really strong focus on timber with beautiful Australian timber floors throughout, and a grand, open timber-floor staircase.”
Expected completion is mid-2023.

Feature we love: This is by no means a cookie-cutter home. It’s a custom design made specifically for its premium location in Googong’s growing community.
