In life, there are times when we simply need to turn the page and start a new chapter. And if the past two years are anything to go by, it seems a fresh start is something so many of us are yearning for right now.
Canberra’s newest suburb, Macnamara, might just be your perfect opportunity with 71 blocks of land plus 55 house and land packages being made available over the coming weeks.
That’s 126 blank-canvas opportunities for locals to construct their dream homes and, in turn, their dream lifestyles.
Blocks range from 350 to 935 square metres. So, whether your next chapter involves downsizing to a quaint two-bedroom abode or upsizing to an enormous five-bedroom family mansion, size is simply not an issue.
The second suburb in the award-winning Ginninderry project, Macnamara is located to the west of Strathnairn and bordered by a pristine conservation corridor with spectacular views of the Brindabella Mountains.
“More than 750 people now call Ginninderry home in our first suburb, Strathnairn, so as we move into our second suburb, we have an opportunity to further our commitment to inspire a new way of living,” says Ginninderry project director Steve Harding.
“Part of that will see Macnamara become the first Canberra suburb with all homes requiring a minimum seven-star energy rating.”
Alongside a master plan that prioritises liveability, including easy walking access to parks, amenities and public transport, it’s evident that the residents of Macnamara are set to enjoy the best of easygoing living.
“When Macnamara is fully developed, residents will be able to take advantage of community gardens, nearby dog parks and play areas like Paddys Park in Strathnairn,” Harding says.
“In addition, Macnamara is well-positioned to provide for future easy access to new recreation and picnic areas proposed in the Ginninderry Conservation Corridor. In the future residents will also benefit from schools, sporting fields and a market centre.”
The suburb is also around five kilometres to the Kippax Group Centre, which offers a hub of additional community facilities such as a library, supermarkets, post office, pharmacy, newsagency and food outlets.
Twelve minutes up the road is the Belconnen Town Centre and Westfield Belconnen, alongside a host of government departments, the University of Canberra and CIT’s Bruce Campus. Then, if you keep driving for another eight minutes, you’ll hit Canberra’s city centre.
Ballot registrations for this first land release are now open and close at 5pm on February 4. Settlement is estimated to take place between February and August 2023 for stage 1A and April 2023 to October 2023 for stage 1B.
“While timing on the next release has not been confirmed, Ginninderry is a 30 to 40-year project that will offer 11,500 homes once complete,” Harding says. “So, if someone does miss out in this ballot, there will be plenty more opportunity in the future.”
