This week I spent a day in Sydney to meet some of the Domain team. It seems so odd that in the two and a half years of working at Domain Group, I’ve only met my colleagues virtually and gotten to know them on a screen.

It was refreshing to not only travel on a plane but to meet other people and put names to faces, and oh, how lovely it was.

In some ways, it was much like property hunting. You trawl through Allhomes listings, add properties to your wishlist, go through the listing images and floor plan and, for some properties, view a 3D floor plan.

You’ve familiarised yourself with that address and then finally, you attend the open for inspection to see it in all its glory. That’s what being in Sydney felt like — a breath of fresh air.

So, wherever you are in your property journey, I hope that these next few homes spark some inspiration for you.

Deakin

With Rosalie Iannelli

Perch yourself in the north-facing courtyards at 46 Lawley Street in Deakin and look around. Life is good.

Breath in the crisp air, filled with the scent of eucalyptus from the surrounding landscape and watch as the stunning streetscapes change colour with the seasons.

The design of the home – by Turco & Associates – makes this easy with perfectly positioned living and bedroom areas, and full-length windows and doors that flow through to the outdoor terraces.

Shrewdly planted trees within the main courtyard offer a shady canopy for an al fresco lunch in the summertime. This courtyard is serviced by the elegant kitchen, which includes European appliances and ample storage with both a pantry and dry-storage room.

Each bedroom has been appointed its own bathroom, so all occupants can live in luxury. The main bedroom, however, is just that little more elevated with a dressing room and an enormous wraparound balcony.

A delicate espresso pairs perfectly with morning sunrises here.

The finishes offer a balance of warmth and style with wide profile engineered-timber floors, Spanish-made tiles, solid timber doors, stone benchtops and marble and limestone outdoor pavers.
