Ohana's floor-to-ceiling windows maximise ocean views.

Lovers of Canberra will tell you that one of the great things about living in this city is its proximity to the coast – under two hours to be exact.

We’re known for packing up the car every long weekend, school holiday or festive season and hauling down the Kings Highway to lap up the sea breeze and salt water of the South Coast.

So, when a luxury development pops up as close as Batemans Bay, it’s hard to contain the excitement.

Developed by Core Developments, Ohana will see 67 luxurious beachside apartments built, offering Canberrans an opportunity to own a slice of paradise for holidays or everyday living.

Ohana will bring 67 luxurious beachside apartments to Batemans Bay.

“Being the first luxury apartment on the South Coast, we wanted Ohana’s appeal to be wide enough to suit those seeking a weekend holiday apartment, downsizers looking for a seaside retirement or buyers alike looking for a beachside investment,” says Core Developments director Ryan Cappello.

The design of the Ohana offers an attractive new building that contributes to the future contemporary character for the area, while respecting and enhancing the local context.

There are five layouts to choose from with single-storey one, two and three-bedroom apartments, double-storey two-bedroom layouts and a lavish four-bedroom penthouse.

There are three coastal interior design-palettes that residents can choose from.

Internally, the villa-style homes have been designed with casual coastal living in mind. Each resident can also select one of three coastal interior design-palettes (Boho Bungalow, Tropical Luxe and Bermudian Boutique) that include textures like concrete and rattan, combined with fresh whites and sun-bleached timbers.

Floor-to-ceiling glazing maximises ocean views, while the balconies are set back within the building form to provide protection from sun and rain.

“We designed the penthouse across two levels with a massive double-storey void to celebrate the views north to Pinnacle Point across Batemans Bay Marine Park and out to the hinterland to the west,” says JUDD.studio director Nathan Judd.

“The wraparound balcony maximises the outdoor living space and entertaining areas of the dwelling and is a generous 45 square metres.”

The wraparound balcony in the penthouse maximises outdoor living space.

The corner three-bedroom apartments function like a large house with two separate living areas. The main living area, including dining kitchen and lounge, has floor-to-ceiling glass linking directly to the balcony, fostering an indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

The second living area provides a flexible casual living space that will suit larger family groups on holiday.

Ohana offers residents a rooftop garden and pool with water views.

But it’s the rooftop garden and pool where things really come to life. Created by the acclaimed interior and landscape designer Mon Palmer, and made up of sandstone pavement, Bangalow palms and Bougainvillea planter, it’s a tropical oasis.

“The rooftop pool is generous with circular shapes and curves following in suit of the building and interiors. Enjoy intimate nights in the curved booth-style seating in the cabana, or working from a laptop in this inspiring open-air space,” says Palmer.

Expected completion is the end of 2021.
